Youngster Ben aiming to learn to learn from Coventry experience
Young goalkeeper Ben Garratt says he is looking to learn from his mistake after he conceded a penalty against Coventry at the weekend. He conceded a spot-kick for the second successive game after doing something similar against Wycombe in our FA Cup replay but the 19-year-old admits that is life as the last line of defence as a goalkeeper.
Ben, who is hoping to keep his place for the visit of Shrewsbury this week told crewealex.net: “Every game I play at first team level is a big learning curve for me.
“You have to learn from the experience and take that on. It is what you train for all week and I enjoyed it at Coventry.
“When you make a mistake they do seem to get punished as a goalkeeper, but that is life as a goalkeeper. It is part of the game and you have to take it on board. When I look back at the penalty and gone through it with Steve (Phillips) I perhaps should have stayed on my line and set myself for a shot but it will be something I will learn from.”
