Kelvin Mellor looking forward to the visit of the Millers this weekend
Ahead of this season’s opening game of the season against Rotherham United, defender Kelvin Mellor has told the club’s official web-site that the vibe and mood in the Crewe dressing room is good as they look forward to the new campaign.
Mellor admits that the players are still unsure if they are even going to start in Steve Davis’s starting line-up for the visit of Millers this Saturday.
Kelvin told Crewe Alex Player: "Every player looks forward to the first game of the season. The pre-season is tough and the friendly games are a bit different because there are no points to play for. Everyone wants that first competitive game.
“We have Rotherham and they will be coming to Crewe with a lot of confidence after being promoted last season. Every game at this level is tough and we don’t expect anything less just because they were a league below us last season. We know they have good players.
“We want to have a good start to the season and take that vibe into the next game and the one after that. The vibe is good in dressing room and we are all looking forward to the challenge.
“No-one knows what the manager is thinking because we have all had a fair chance to show what we can do over the pre-season. The manager and Bakes have tried some new things so you just don’t know who is going to start.”
