We've Missed Pogba

23 April 2013

Boss wants others to show they can replace Pogs goal threat

Steve Davis says the club’s lack of goals in recent games shows what a big miss his leading scorer Mathias Pogba has been. Pogba was ruled out for the season just ahead of our trip to Wembley after suffering a torn thigh against Preston North End on Easter Monday.

The injury was a blow to Crewe as Pogba had enjoyed a superb first season at this level; scoring 16 goals despite playing in various positions for the club. His excellent form had seen him called up and capped by his country Guinea.

Steve told the club’s official web-site:  “We have scored one goal in out last three games and it is a concern to us, because we have had some chances, especially at Yeovil on Saturday.

“We have missed our leading scorer.  Losing Pogba was a blow to us because he had been our most consistent goalscorer and offered us a real physical presence and pace up there.

“He has shown that he has an ability to get in there for us and score goals. The others have found it difficult to score goals on a consistent basis and it is something we need to improve on looking ahead to next season.”
