Boss says fans on the day can make a huge difference at Wembley
Steve Davis hopes that the Crewe Alexandra faithful can replicate the kind of support the club received in the League Two Play-Off Final in this weekend’s second trip to Wembley in under a year.
The club are closing in on 10,000 tickets sold and Davis is hopeful a few more will come and support the Railwaymen in London this Sunday.
The Alex boss is hoping to guide the club to victory in their first major final as they take on Phil Brown’s Southend.
Steve told crewealex.net: “The support we have had has been terrific all season and this is a reward for those supporters who have come out in all weather to get behind us. They have been coming in to buy tickets, their new shirts and all the things that are associated with a trip to Wembley and that is great to see.
“We have been lucky enough to go twice in a year but this doesn’t happen all the time. It can be once or twice in your lifetime and it could be another 20 years until we get back there. You just never know.
“This is a big thing for Crewe and for the town. It should be a great occasion and it is a great day out for all the family. I just want our fans to enjoy the day and have the opportunity to say in the future that they were there when Crewe got to a Cup Final.
Steve added: “We have had a great run in the competition and now we want to go there and finish it off and win a trophy. It certainly be for lack of effort and the support we receive will be very important like it was against Cheltenham in the play-offs.”
