Good To Have Derby Clash

22 April 2013

Steve looking forward to re-igniting rivalry with promoted Vale

Steve Davis says he is looking forward to next season’s derby clash with Port Vale after Micky Adams’ side virtually confirmed their promotion at the weekend with a 2-2 draw with Northampton Town.

The Alex manager congratulated our near neighbours on their promotion, returning the praise after the Valiants were one of the quickest on the phone to congratulate us on our Johnstone’s Paint Trophy success at Wembley earlier this month.

Steve told crewealex.net: “I think it is good for us and good for the league to have Port Vale in there. I have sent my congratulations to the club and left a message with Micky. They have had some difficult times, but look to have some real stability with their new owner.

“I am looking forward to the derby games. They are always one to look forward to for both clubs and both sets of supporters. There will be two big gates, which is always good for the finances as well.”
