Luke Murphy Signs New Two-Year Deal

Midfielder Luke Murphy has this afternoon signed a new two-year deal with Crewe Alexandra taking him through the summer of 2014. The newly appointed captain follows his fellow team-mates AJ Leitch-Smith, Adam Dugdale, Harry Davis and Byron Moore in a penning a new longer deal with the club.

Murphy, 22, has made 148 appearances for the club since turning professional in 2008, scoring 17 goals and playing an important role in Crewe’s promotion from League Two last season.

Following the deadline day departure of his fellow Academy graduate Ashley Westwood to Aston Villa, Murphy was handed the captain’s armband by boss Steve Davis and has made 10 appearances this season.
