Davis On Loan Targets

4 September 2012

Steve says club after two this week

Steve Davis has told crewealex.net that he is hopeful of landing one or two players on loan this week as he looks for a short-term replacement for the departed Ashley Westwood and injured Mathias Pogba.

Clubs can take players again on emergency loan a week after the window closed and Davis is hoping to sign a couple of loan to bolster his squad. He and his assistant Neil Baker have been in contact with a few clubs over the availability of players with a midfield playmaker and a taller striker his priority.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “We are still in contract with a number of clubs about the possibility of bringing players in on loan. We have made enquiries and seeing what is available.

“We were close to do one or two on Friday but the issue there could be their wages and the percentage we may be asked to pay.

“We will continue to work on that and hopefully if we can get something done then we would bring them Thursday, so they train with us and integrate with the squad. We need a replacement for Pogs, because we expect him to be out for 2-3 weeks and of course one for Westy, who can get on the ball and has a range of passing.”
