Could Loan In Forward

Davis says he could re-enter loan market if Bunn ruled out for months

Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that he may well re-visit the loan market in search of a striker. Davis could have lost the on-loan Harry Bunn with a serious knee injury after he nastily twisted it in the 0-0 draw with Tranmere on Saturday and with the powerful Mathias Pogba still struggling with a slight knee injury, a new target man could be top of his priority list.

Davis was able to bring in the Arsenal teenager Chuks Aneke on a one-month loan deal on Saturday, but he has not ruled out brining in another fresh face to the squad. Aneke can play across midfield or off the front as he did when replacing the injured Bunn on Saturday.

The Alex boss told the club’s official web-site: With Harry looking like he could be out for a while, this is an area when I could look to strengthen. We will have to assess how bad he is and speak with Manchester City.

He added: “If it is going to rule out him out for a period then I could go back into the loan market for another forward player. With Pogs (Pogba) also out for a couple of weeks we could do with some help in there and I would consider bolstering the squad.”
