Willing To Let Ben Out On Loan

16 November 2012

Steve says loan spell would do young England goalkeeper good

Although Steve Davis has ruled out the possibility of loaning out any of his promising youngsters to non-league sides, in the wake of the newly formed Under-21 leagues, he is though willing to allow his young goalkeeper Ben Garratt to go out on loan to gain some invaluable first-team experience.

this season has found his game time limited as the more senior Steve Phillips is played in the Under-21 fixtures at the moment. Garratt, who is an England Under-19 goalkeeper and has been on the first-team bench at Crewe Alexandra

The club have circulated Garratt’s details to proposed clubs but as Davis explained to Crewealex.net it is not as straight forward when it comes to goalkeepers.

Steve said: “We would be willing to let Ben go on loan for a short spell because he could do with some games and the experience. We have circulated his details to clubs but haven’t heard too much back.

“He is a good young goalkeeper, who has played for England at junior level and we have high hopes for him. It is not easy to get a goalkeeper out on loan because unless there is an injury to one or two of a club’s goalkeepers then they don’t tend to look.”
