Club hoping for encouraging update on defender
Crewe Alexandra defender Kelvin Mellor is set to undergo a scan on his knee later today, to assess his recovery. Mellor has not featured in the club’s last four games after receiving a hefty knock on his knee. The impact resulted in a swollen knee and limited cartilage damage.
Steve Davis told the club’s official web-site after the visit of Crawley: “Kelvin will undergo a scan on Monday and hopefully we will get some encouraging news on him. He has improved and the knee has settled down a bit.
“He took a bit of impact on it but he has worked hard and progressed well so we are hoping that he will be back with us again so. The scan will inform us how much improvement he has made.”
Crewe also expect striker AJ Leitch-Smith (ankle) to make a return to full training this week.
