Boss Pleased With Robbo's Efforts

22 November 2012

Steve Davis was pleased with Gregor Robertson's quality in the final third against Blades

Steve Davis says he was pleased with the efforts of his left full back Gregor Robertson in Tuesday night’s 3-3 draw with Sheffield United. The Scottish defender certainly had his hands full with the Blades’ top performer on the night Nick Blackman, but he still managed to venture forward and help create a well worked third goal that was converted by Chuks Aneke, after a clever flick from Lauri Dalla Valle.

Robertson, a summer signing from Chesterfield, has recently returned to the side following a knee injury to Kelvin Mellor and the club’s oldest outfield player knows he has battle on his hands to retain his place once Mellor returns to fitness.

Boss Steve Davis was happy with his night at Bramall Lane though: “Robbo has come back into the team and does offer us something in advanced positions because his crossing with his left foot is usually very good. He helped create the third goal on Tuesday night and got forward whenever he could.

“He had his hands full because Blackman is a good player and a threat with his pace but I was pleased with his efforts. I do have options at full-back once everyone is fit but Gregor has come in when I’ve needed him and he has not let anyone down.”
