CSC Report: Crewe 4-0 Alsager

19 January 2022

Braces from both Connor Salisbury and Tyreece Onyeka make it a comfortable night the Railwaymen.

A dominant performance from the Reds sees them progress into the third round of the Cheshire Senior cup.

The hosts knocked on the door early as Woodcock picked up possession in the final third and found Salisbury on the overlap running in behind. Salisbury was able to find enough space to get a shot off, forcing the Alsager keeper to make a good early save. The ball deflected out as far as Onyeka but he couldn’t quite steer it goalwards.

Crewe's first goal of the game came through Salisbury in the 7th minute. Our number nine on the evening, played a neat one-two with Tabiner, before setting himslef for a composed finish into the far corner.

The next opportunity came from the Alex, as the ball set nicely for Joel Tabiner, whose right footed effort rattled the post.

It took 33 minutes for Connor Salisbury to secure his second goal of the night. The young Reds worked the corner short, which left Lundstram with acres of space at the byline. The midfielder was then able to square it across to the waiting Salisbury who claimed his brace.

Almost identical to the second, a corner is taken short and again Lundstram is allowed enough time to pick out a man in a red shirt and Onyeka makes no mistake from close-range to make it three.

Salisbury had two chances to claim the match ball in the first half, the first was ruled out for offside and then right on the cusp of half time, he fired one against the upright.

Moments after the half-time interval, Onyeka grabbed a second goal to make it 4-0. Lundstram’s lofted pass in behind the Alsager defence found the lively forward in the box who was ready to guide it home.

Hyde United await in Round Three of the Cheshire Senior Cup.
