U23: Alex Morris Side Travel To Millwall

4 March 2019

Alex Morris' Crewe Alexandra Under 23 side make the long trip to The Den to take on Millwall tomorrow as the fixtures against the U23 PDL2 South sides come into focus.

Having played all the teams in the Northern section home & away over the autumn & winter, Morris' side now finish the season with five fixtures against the five southern league teams that they didn't play at the start of the season.

It's unclear as of yet what sort of team will be making the trip down to East London, with regular first year pros Regan Griffiths, Joe Lynch & Travis Johnson almost certain to travel.

The match takes place at The Den stadium & kick-off is at 2pm. Tickets are priced at £5 adults & £1 Under 16s.

Crewe supporters can follow @MillwallFC on twitter for live in-game updates.

After Millwall, Morris' side host Bristol City & Coventry City at Gresty Road, but also face trips to Cardiff City & Colchester United before the season is out.

U23 Report: Millwall 1-1 Crewe

5 March 2019

Apologies, this video is unvailable.

Crewe: Richards, Johnson, Offord, Sass-Davies, Adebisi, Jones (Linton, 70), Lundstram, Lynch, Dale, Finney, Griffiths

Goals: Finney (27)

James Jones got 70 minutes under his belt on his return from injury as Crewe Alexandra suffered late disappointment at Millwall, conceding a 94th minute leveler to draw 1-1 at The Den.

Oliver Finney's poachers effort in the first half looked to have secured an impressive 1-0 victory in London, but for that late equaliser.

Josh Lundstram went close for the Alex in the 15th minute, but his near post strike was kept out down low by veteran goalkeeper David Martin.

The opening goal came with 27 minutes on the clock thanks to Finney. A Lions mistake at the back allowed Regan Griffiths through on goal, Martin saved the strike but Oli was quickest to the loose ball to tuck home the rebound.

Fred Onyedinma & Aiden O'Brien combined to create a clear opening for Tom Elliott the hosts just after the hour mark, but he spurned the attempt.

Much of the second half passed without incident until Joe Lynch almost made the safe in the 89th minute on the counter-attack, but Martin saved the firm strike well.

Then, four minutes into stoppage time, Millwall forced an equaliser. George Alexander broke free of his marker to head home & ensure the points were shared.

Next up for Alex Morris side is a meeting with Bristol City at Gresty Road on Wednesday 13 March, 1pm kick-off. Entry is free.
