Lewis Billington is training well and in the frame to play for Crewe Alexandra over Easter Weekend.

That’s according to Manager Lee Bell, who says he has been managing the 20-year-old’s minutes lately.

The homegrown defender has enjoyed a breakthrough season, and started 15 games in League Two. But he has has been an unused sub in the last four matches

Bell said: “Billo is doing absolutely fine; he’s started 15 games in the league which is way ahead where we thought he might be at this stage of the season.

“You have to be mindful sometimes with young players - the physical side of it can catch up.

“But he is fully in the mix, he’s doing well in training and there are no issues whatsoever. It all comes down for my decision and what I feel is best for him in the long term.”

Billington has made 24 appearances in total this term, scoring one goal in the win at Barrow in January.
