Central midfielder Wintle signed from North West Counties Premier League side Alsager Town after impressing on an initial trial period in January 2015.
The 22-year-old was rewarded with an initial 18-month deal and gained experience playing in the club’s development squad, before earning his first call-up to the first team in November 2015, coming off the bench late on at Bradford.
He made a total of three appearances, all in November 2015, before a broken foot ended his season early.
Back fully fit for 2016/17, Wintle was brought into the side when Dave Artell took charge & made 19 appearances over the course of the season, notching his first pro goal in the 3-0 win over Leyton Orient at the end of the season.
He built on that breakthrough period with 20 appearances & two goals in 2017/18 before becoming a key player last season with 50 appearances & two goals to his name.
Handed the number four shirt for 2019/20, Wintle is seen as a key cog in the Alex anchor man midfield role.
