"Would Love To Sign Chuks"

Boss says on-loan Arsenal youngster is a perfect fit

Steve Davis has admitted he has considered taking Chuks Aneke on a permanent basis but fears that his performances over the last two seasons could see him appear on a few wish-lists of bigger clubs. Aneke has scored 10 goals this season, including a match winning brace against Sheffield United at the weekend and his form has certainly made him a firm favourite with the Crewe supporters.

The on-loan Arsenal starlet is certain to be a contender for our player of the season and is virtually nailed on to win our top goalscorer accolade.

Steve says it has certainly crossed his mind about taking Chuks on a permanent basis, like we did with Bradden Inman last summer, but he appreciates that we could face stiff competition for his signature if he were to become available.

Steve told crewealex.net: “Signing Chuks on a permanent basis is something I've thought about but it is maybe a bit early for him to decide what he is going to do in the summer. His agent was very keen for him to be here and everyone can see the improvement he has made when making that step up from Under-21 football.

“We won't be able to compete with a lot of clubs financially but Chuks has to fit into a style of football, if I was going to give him any advice it would be that the team he plays in is very important to him because of the style of player he is.

“I think we are one of very few clubs who could accommodate him at this level, and I have been very patient with him.”
