Grant: "Very Happy To Be Here"

Midfielder on his switch to Gresty Road

New midfielder Anthony Grant can’t wait to get going after putting pen-to-paper on a two-year deal with Crewe Alexandra. The 26-year-old trained with the Alex for the first-time this morning after agreeing to end his deal at Stevenage early, and could even make his Gresty Road bow when Blackburn Rovers visit tomorrow night.

Speaking exclusively with Crewe Alex Player, Grant explained how he is relishing getting stuck in with the footballing culture at the Alex, and says that he will play in whatever role that manager Steve Davis asks.

After agreeing his deal, the former Southend and Chelsea man said: “I'm very happy to be here. It had been dragging on for a while so I’m just happy to get it all signed up.

“I first heard about the chance of coming when I was on holiday. I got a phone call saying there was interest; Neil Baker ended up phoning me and so did the gaffer so they seemed very interested.

“Crewe have been promoted and won the JPT in the last couple of years, they like to pass the ball and like winning. The gaffer told me what he wants me to do and how the team will move forward.

“I want to be a part of that and I'll do whatever the gaffer asks me to and hopefully we will win games. I know I can go forward, sit, whatever, I like to play various positions and I hope that will help the team.

“This is a fresh start for me now. I've met the players and they all seem fine hopefully we can move forward together.”
