Crewe Alexandra will aim to get back to winning ways when they host AFC Wimbledon this afternoon (Saturday, 3pm).

Lee Bell’s men were defeated last weekend but confidence remains high ahead of a clash with another side with promotion ambition.

The Opposition

The Wombles are seventh, just inside the Play-Off places. Three wins from their last five have brought them right back into contention.

The Gaffer

Johnnie Jackson became manager of Wimbledon in May 2022.

The former Tottenham youth player ended his career at Charlton Athletic where he played 255 games, and he also managed the Addicks in two different spells across 2021 and 2022.

Fighting Talk

Lee Bell: “Everyone is full of confidence and looking forward to the game. They have been terrific this season and have been in and around it, similar to us. They are an energetic team, aggressive and have good players.

Johnnie Jackson: “We’re at the stage in the season when I’m not going to leave us short at all. We’ll need all hands-on deck – we will need everyone for this final push. “

Head-to-Head

The teams have met nine times in their history. The Railwaymen have won three times, with five matches ending in a draw.

The reverse fixture at the Cherry Red Records Stadium this season saw a late comeback from the Alex earn a draw, thanks to late goals from Joel Tabiner and Elliot Nevitt.

Match Officials

Darren Drysdale is the referee for this afternoon’s clash, and Karl Buckley and Conor Brown will be his assistants. Lee Freeman will be the fourth official.
