Boss: ‘We are in a confident place’

25 March 2024

Lee Bell says Crewe Alexandra remain in a strong position after Saturday’s draw with AFC Wimbledon.

The Railwaymen were held to a 1-1 scoreline, after Rio Adebisi’s strike cancelled out John-Kymani Gordon’s opener at Mornflake Stadium.

The result means Crewe stay fifth in League Two with seven games to go.

Manager Bell said: “I thought we shaded the game, and if anyone was going to win it, it would be us.

“We had a couple of scares when they put balls in our box, but after a poor start we settled into the game.

“On an extremely windy day and on a bone-dry pitch, I credit the players for sticking to what we were asking of them.

“The players showed character and determination to get back into the game. It was a clever free kick and a good strike from Rio, who has been not far off exceptional this season.

“Our recent home record could and should be better but it’s another game chalked off and we are in a confident place and looking forward to next week.

“It’s another point on the board and we are in an excellent position moving forward. We should be looking up.”
