Baker-Richardson to learn injury fate

18 March 2024

Courtney Baker-Richardson will see a specialist today (Monday) to learn whether he needs surgery to repair shoulder ligament damage.

That’s according to Assistant Manager Ryan Dicker, who says the striker dislocated his shoulder in last week’s win over Sutton.

The severity of the damage will dictate whether the 10-goal forward will be able to play for Crewe Alexandra again this season.

Baker-Richardson missed the weekend’s game at MK Dons, as did midfielder Joel Tabiner (thigh).

Dicker explained: “Unfortunately, Courtney has dislocated his shoulder. He went for a scan last week and will now see a specialist (today) to determine whether he needs an operation or not.

“Joel Tabiner has tweaked a quad muscle so he will be missing for the next couple of games, so that’s where we are at.”

Manager Lee Bell admitted it is a blow to lose the two players, who join Jack Powell, Luke Offord, Chris Long, Matus Holicek and Owen Lunt in the treatement room.

But he added: “Players being injured has been the story of the season. We have to get on with it, we’ve still got good players on the pitch.
