Crewe Alexandra will aim to make to back-to-back wins when they visit Mansfield today (Saturday, 3pm).
Lee Bell and his squad will take the confidence gained from their New Year's Day success over Bradford City into a challenging clash with the Stags, who are unbeaten at home.
The Opposition
Mansfield sit second in Sky Bet League Two having lost just once all season. They have won six out of their 11 games at One Call Stadium.
The Stags missed out on a place in the Play-Offs due to goal difference last season but are well on course to be in the promotion shake-up this time around.
The Gaffer
Nigel Clough, a former Manchester City, Liverpool and England star, was always destined to follow in his famous father's shoes as a manager.
He has previously lifted Burton Albion from non-league and been in charge at Derby County and Sheffield United. He took the reins at Field Mill in 2020.
Fighting Talk
Ryan Dicker (Alex Assistant Manager): “It’ll be very difficult; I think they are probably the best team in the league. They have terrific players, really good experience and goals in all areas of the pitch. We are working hard this week to put a plan together to expose various weaknesses in their team.”
Nigel Clough: “They have a top squad. Crewe have a history of playing a certain way but I think what he (Lee Bell) has done is he has mixed it up a bit. They are a good, well-rounded side and the fact they have scored so many late goals shows their attitude.”
Head-to-Head
Crewe have won 32 matches against their opponents, while Mansfield have emerged as victors in 31. A total of 22 of the clashes between the sides have ended in a draw.
Match Officials
Marc Edwards will be the man in charge. Christopher Ward and Daniel Woodward will assistist with the flags and the fourth official will be Daniel Robinson.
Edwards has handed out 62 yellow cards and one red card in 14 games this term.
