Boss ‘delighted’ with players after Swindon win

14 January 2024

Lee Bell was ‘delighted’ with his players after they made it three wins on the spin.

Crewe Alexandra emerged as 2-1 victors over Swindon Town thanks to strikes from Elliott Nevitt and Courtney Baker-Richardson.

Afterwards, Manager Bell said: “I’m delighted with the players. They are getting their just rewards for how hard they are working.

“I know I sound like a broken record but they are working so hard as a collective. After a tricky spell, it’s pleasing to get three wins on the bounce.”

Nevitt’s searing strike made it 1-0 to The Railwaymen, while Baker-Richardson’s clever backheel grabbed the points. For both men, it took their tally to 10 for the campaign.

Bell added: “I thought Nev took his goal really well. His finish was excellent and his all-round performance was good; he ran himself into the ground and that’s what we ask of the players.

“In terms of workrate, Courtney’s numbers are as high as they’ve ever been so I’m pleased he got his goal, it was a lovely little finish. It was instinctive and he had the presence of mind to try that.”
