Crewe Alexandra are working hard to make a signing before the trip to Mansfield Town on Saturday (3pm).

That’s according to Manager Lee Bell, who says talks have gone well with a number of targets.

While he could not confirm any deals, he believes the squad may be bolstered ahead of the clash at One Call Stadium.

Speaking after the 1-0 win against Bradford on Monday, Bell said: “I’ve spoken to two players and had a really good meeting with one, who has a decision to make.

“It looks like we have got the other one done and hopefully he will join us on Wednesday (today).

“We could also be down the line with another target – we are just waiting to hear back from his parent club. Until they are signed you don’t know, but we are working hard.”
