3 February 2024

Crewe Alexandra will aim to bounce back to winning ways when they visit Tranmere Rovers today (Saturday, 3pm).

With two new signings Ed Turns and Charlie Kirk on board, Lee Bell’s men will hope that they can bolster their promotion hopes with a third straight away win.

The Opposition

Tranmere Rovers sit 17th in League Two and have won three of their last five games in the league.

At Prenton Park this season, Tranmere have won eight of their 14 games, scoring 29 goals.

The Gaffer

Nigel Adkins has a wealth of experience in management, having previously taken charge of the likes of Southampton, Sheffield United and Hull City.

The 58-year-old took over at Tranmere in September and oversee a marked improvement in results.

Fighting Talk

Lee Bell: "It’s a big test for the players, of their character and mentality, as we look to bounce back. That’s the aim and we have been looking forward to that game all week. They have had some outstanding performances and results in recent weeks, and they’ve picked up over the past couple of months."

Nigel Adkins: "Crewe are doing well, they are high up in the table. It will be a tough game. They have threats and we have to be mindful of that. It should be a good game and I am looking forward to it."

Head-to-Head

Crewe Alexandra and Tranmere Rovers have met 141 times. Tranmere have emerged victorious on 61 occasions while The Railwaymen have come out on top 47 times. The remaining 33 clashes have ended in a draw.

The reverse fixture at Mornflake Stadium ended in a comfortable 2-0 win for the Alex. Mickey Demetriou and Christopher Long got the goals.

Match Officials

The man in charge of Saturday’s clash is Carl Brook. Alan Clayton and Danny Gratton will accompany him as assistants. The fourth official will be Kevin Mulraine.

Brook has handed out 90 yellow cards and one red in 18 games this season.
