Matchday Guide | Notts County (A)

24 February 2024

Crewe Alexandra will aim to make it six consecutive games unbeaten on the road when they travel to Notts County today (3pm).

Lee Bell’s men will bid to complete a league double over the Magpies in front of well over 1,000 travelling fans at Meadow Lane.

The Opposition

Notts County are looking to return to the Play-Off places after slipping down the standings recently. They sit 10th - just a single point away from the top seven.

County have picked up just one win in their last eight league games and are without a home success in 2024.

The Gaffer

Stuart Maynard took charge in January after Luke Williams left to join Swansea.

The 43-year-old former non-league player previously managed National League side Wealdstone FC between 2021-2024.

Fighting Talk

Lee Bell: “I admire how they play and it will be a good game. I’m hoping we will give them one or two things to worry about. I expect a tight game.”

Stuart Maynard: “They are very adaptable and I think it will be a good tactical game. I think these are the types of games we want to be involved in as a football club.”

Head-to-Head

The two sides have met 48 times. Notts County have won on 23 occasions while The Railwaymen have emerged victorious 16 times.

In November, Crewe won the reverse fixture at Mornflake Stadium after Courtney Baker-Richardson converted a late penalty in a 1-0 win.

Match Officials

Ross Joyce will be the man in the middle for today’s clash. Johnathon Bickerdike and Ryan Head will accompany him as assistants. Richard Wigglesworth will be the fourth official.

Joyce has handed out 103 yellow cards and nine red cards in the 24 games he has taken charge of.
