Matchday Guide | Crawley (H)

10 February 2024

Crewe Alexandra will look to get back to winning ways when they host Crawley Town at Mornflake Stadium today (Saturday, 3pm).

Lee Bell’s men earned a hard-fought point at Tranmere Rovers last time out, and will aim to complete a league double over the visitors.

The Opposition

Crawley Town sit 14th in Sky Bet League Two, having picked up six points in their last five games.

The Red Devils have collected 15 points from the 13 games they have played on their travels this season.

The Gaffer

Former Swindon boss Scott Lindsey took the reins in January 2023 and steered Crawley from the drop zone with an improved run of results.

This season, Lindsey - who enjoyed a lengthy non-league career as a player - was nominated for a Manager of the Month Award in September and will be eying a tilt at the Play-Offs.

Fighting Talk

Lee Bell: "They are a good footballing team. Scott gets them playing in a really good way and they are easy on the eye. On their day, they are capable of beating anybody and they will have ambitions of being in and around the Play-Offs. We will have to be at it."

Scott Lindsay: "We can't play the way we did against Crewe in the last game or it will be a cricket score. Lee has done a great job this season. I don’t think anyone expected them to be up there but they have done a great job."

Head-to-Head

Crewe have a great record against Crawley, having been defeated just three times in 19 clashes. The Railwaymen have taken victory on 11 occasions while three games have ended in a draw.

In their last six games, Crewe are unbeaten against Crawley. In the reverse fixture earlier in the season, Crewe took three points with a 4-2 win as Shilow Tracey, Courtney-Baker Richardson and Elliott Nevitt got amongst the goals.

Match Officials

Martin Coy is the man in charge of today’s clash. Jake Topp and Paul Stonier will assist him from the sidelines, while Steven Plane will be the fourth official.

Coy has handed out 68 yellow cards and three red cards this season.
