Injury Update|Booth, Finney, Tabiner & Lunt

8 February 2024

Lee Bell has confirmed that Tom Booth could be back in light training next week.

The keeper suffered a pneumothorax (collapsed lung) at Tranmere last weekend but is now recovering after a spell in hospital.

The Manager says the 19-year-old may be well enough to get back on the grass next week, but made it clear the Club would be cautious.

Bell also provided updates on Charlie Finney (calves), Joel Tabiner (ankle), Zac Williams (ankle) and Owen Lunt (back).

He said: “Boothy took a heavy bang and suffered a partial lung-collapse. The staff at the hospital did the work to get that reinflated and the good news is, by all accounts, by next week he could be doing some stuff on the grass next week.

“That’s a positive but we will do everything right and ensure he’s looked after because it is a serious injury.

“Charlie Finney is progressing after his operation. He lost a lot of strength in that area so he’s trying to build it up now.

“Joel Tabiner has been doing extra things this week to see what type of reaction he gets, and he will be upping it again next week.

“We don’t want to rush him back because he will be important, like Charlie, to the run-in to the end of the season.

“Zac is seeing a specialist tomorrow (Friday) and then we will find out where we need to go from there.

“It’s a reoccurrence of an injury - he first had it two years ago when he first got into the team - so we need to look at it and see what is best for him in the future – and I mean long-term future.

“Owen Lunt is still struggling with his back, but we think that’s all due to growing and the adjustment from what he was doing last year to this year.”

Jack Powell (knee) remains on the long-term injured list but is progressing well in rehab.
