Boss: ‘We have the firepower to hurt County’

13 February 2024

Lee Bell has urged his players to relish tonight’s top-of-the-table clash at Stockport County (Tuesday, 7.45pm).

The third-placed Railwaymen will take on League Two leaders Stockport in a mouthwatering fixture at Edgeley Park.

County have only lost twice at home this season, and won 2-0 at Mornflake Stadium in October.

But Manager Bell says his men, who are four unbeaten on the road, should have no fear.

“It’s a really good fixture – two teams in the top three,” he said.

“We have to relish it and take what we did at the weekend (beating Crawley) into the game.

“We will have to be really good without the ball because they will dominate some of the possession, being at home. But we have the firepower to create chances against them.

“The game is something for the whole club to look forward to – we have merited being in these types of games because of how well the players have been doing.

“We have been going well away from home and we know if we want to achieve anything at the end of the season, we have to keep picking up points on our travels.

“We will take a good following – it looks like the away tickets have sold out – and they will have a few there too. It’s one to look forward to.”
