Boss previews Accrington trip

5 April 2024

Crewe Alexandra must take the fight to Accrington Stanley tomorrow (Saturday, 3pm).

That’s according to Manager Lee Bell, who says his players have to focus on making life difficult for their hosts.

Crewe are aiming to respond to a defeat at the hands of Forest Green on Monday, while Accrington want their first win under new boss John Doolan.

Bell said: “It’s a tough game but we have to be positive and make it even tougher for them.

“We’ll have to be disclipined in everything we do. They play with a lot of freedom and energy, and they have good players.

“I really like Accrington as a football club – there is a bond there between everybody connected to the club.”

The sides shared a dramatic 3-3 draw at Mornflake Stadium earlier this season. Aaron Rowe, Mickey Demetriou and Elliott Nevitt were on target for The Railwaymen.

Bell will make late calls on the fitness of Christopher Long and Ed Turns, while Courtney Baker-Richardson and Joel Tabiner are closing on returns.
