Club stalwart John Rodgers has accepted a new matchday role at Crewe Alexandra.

The lifelong supporter, who currently hosts hospitality guests in The Wrights Lounge before games at Mornflake Stadium, has agreed to lead efforts to improve the matchday experience in The Railwaymen Bar & Lounge.

There, John will invite former players to meet and greet fans as they enjoy pre-game refreshments.

To enable John to fulfil his new duties he will step down as Stadium Announcer after more than two years on the mic.

James Beckett, Head of Commercial, said: “I’m really pleased that John has accepted this additional role.

“It was typically good of him to step in as Stadium Announcer when we tragically lost Andy Scoffin in 2021.

“Now we are really keen to improve the matchday experience for supporters in The Railwaymen Bar & Lounge, and John is the ideal man to help us do that.

“It does mean that we must now recruit a new Stadium Announcer so I’d be interested to hear from anybody interested in that important role.”
