Boss: ‘Physio room has been very busy’

19 October 2023

Lee Bell says late checks will be made on six of his players ahead of Saturday’s game at Crawley Town.

Defender Zac Williams was withdrawn after the warm-up before the win over Tranmere Rovers last weekend, and then several others played through pain.

Now Mickey Demetriou, Christopher Long, Shilow Tracey, Harvey Davies and Rio Adebisi are under observation as preparations continue for the trip to West Sussex.

Bell said: “The physio room has been very busy this week. The truth is that I won’t know until tomorrow (Friday) or Saturday with some of the players.

“The lads who were carrying knocks were excellent last weekend, while it wasn’t worth the risk with Zac’s tight hamstring in the warm up.

“We will have to see with Zac and it’ll be the same with Longy, Harvey, Rio, Shilow and Mickey. There’s no point in me lying, I honestly don’t know what shape they will be in.”

Meanwhile, Owen Lunt (back) is a doubt after picking up a knock in the Cheshire Senior Cup in midweek, and Conor Thomas (calf) is progressing well with his rehab.

Connor O’Riordan and Matus Holicek have returned fit and well from international duty with Ireland and Slovakia respectively.
