‘Firmly focused on three points’ - Jackson

24 November 2023

Mike Jackson says Crewe Alexandra are firmly focused on taking three points from Doncaster Rovers as a busy spell of matches gets under way.

The Railwaymen are gearing up for eight games in the next six weeks, with Rovers first up at Mornflake Stadium tomorrow (Saturday, 3pm).

Under-21s Manager Jackson, who is also part of the first-team management set-up, says they will take it one game at a time.

“This is a crucial part of the season because the games come thick and fast,” he said.

“But all we can do is take it game by game and that means focusing on Doncaster.

“Hopefully we can pick up another three points. We’ve been good at home this year, but after losing to Stockport our challenge is to get another long run going.”

Crewe will start the game fifth in League Two, with Doncaster 13 places and 12 points below.

But Grant McCann's side have found some form after a poor start, with six wins in their last 10.

Crewe currently have eight players missing through injury, with Elliott Nevitt (thigh) the closest to a return. But they will welcome back defender Connor O’Riordan from international duty.

Jackson added: “We are pleased with how the season has gone so far but we want more. We want to keep improving, that’s the message. We want to breed a winning culture.

“The Manager told the players last week that we’ve had a decent start, but that’s all it is.

“We can’t get ahead of ourselves and we are not going to. We have to keep working hard and keep the togetherness around the squad.

“Everyone is pulling in the same direction and sticking together will be the key to trying to achieve something this season.
