Boss: ‘Players were magnificent’

4 May 2023

Lee Bell was full of praise for his ‘magnificent’ players after Crewe Alexandra’s dramatic 3-2 win over Bradford City.

The Manager was delighted with the display, which made it five straight wins at Mornflake Stadium.

Dan Agyei (2) put The Railwaymen in charge but Bradford squared things up before the hour-mark. Christopher Long grabbed the winner from the penalty spot deep into stoppage time.

Bell said: “It was a really good game of football, and we gave a really good account of ourselves – it was important we did that for the other teams in the league.

“The boys were magnificent and put some good football together. We didn’t withstand everything they threw at us, but nearly did.

“Dan has run himself into the ground again, he’s been magnificent this season, and I’m delighted for Longy to get another goal.

“Full credit to the players, we spoke about how we wanted to finish off at home on a high. I thought we’d be the better footballing team, and we were able to show that.

“We want to make this place difficult for teams to come to, and we have to develop all different types of ways to get results. This little run is a great achievement at the end of the season.
