Boss admits new Agyei deal is ‘unrealistic’

30 May 2023

Lee Bell admits it would be ‘unrealistic’ to think Dan Agyei will be at Crewe Alexandra next season.

The forward finished last term as top scorer with 16 goals and scooped the Players’ Player of the Year award for his consistent and hard-working displays.

His efforts naturally caught the eye of a number of scouts, and now his contract is set to expire.

Agyei, who spent the last 18 months at Mornflake Stadium, has been offered a new deal to stay in South Cheshire.

But Bell said: “It would be unrealistic to think that Dan Agyei will be a Crewe player next year.

“The lad did brilliantly for us and I know he has got a lot of options. I’ve had a lot of people contacting us about him and his character.

“We obviously want him to be a Crewe player next season, but it’s not realistic.”

Former Burnley and Oxford man Agyei, 25, joined The Railwaymen in January last year. He has fired 17 goals in 61 appearances.
