Bell: ‘Let’s extend unbeaten home run’

3 May 2023

Lee Bell wants to finish 2022-23 with a seven-match unbeaten home record – and that means getting a result against Bradford City tonight (Wednesday, 7.45pm).

Crewe Alexandra sit top of the League Two home form table, with five wins and a draw in their last six outings at Mornflake Stadium.

The Bantams will aim to upset that record by taking the three points they need to further their Play-Off ambitions.

But Manager Bell is keen that the Alex extend the sequence and take it into next season.

He said: “We are in for a proper game, they will bring a load of fans, and there is a lot for them to play for – the stakes are big.

“But we will make sure our players know they are in a game and we want to win it, we want to finish the season seven unbeaten at home, so let’s continue that run.

“I’m sure the teams in and around Bradford will want a favour, but we have to concentrate on what we want to do, and what we want to leave the crowd with. We have lots of targets to still aim for.”

More than 2,000 Bradford fans are expected to converge on South Cheshire for the game. The visitors will start the evening in seventh, needing one point from two games to be sure of a spot in the Play-Offs.

Bell will run the rule over the likes of Rio Adebisi, Tariq Uwakwe, Charlie Colkett and Charlie Finney, who are all carrying knows. Elliott Nevitt (toe) will miss the final two games.
