Finnigan to be assessed ahead of Cobblers clash

16 March 2023

Ryan Finnigan will be assessed ahead of Saturday’s trip to Northampton, after the midfielder limped off after 24 minutes in midweek.

The 19-year-old, on loan from Southampton, has been a standout performer since joining in January, making 13 appearances and scoring once.

Finnigan had to be substituted early on at Stevenage on Tuesday, and is now undergoing treatment.

Manager Lee Bell said: “He has a tight calf so we will assess him moving forward, hopefully it is not serious and just a bit of fatigue.”

Meanwhile, Christopher Long is still a couple of weeks away from potentially being able to feature, after missing virtually the entire season with a foot injury.

Zac Williams (hamstring) is also several weeks away from action, while defender Rod McDonald will serve the last of a three-match suspension.

Northampton, who sit fourth in League Two, are unbeaten in the last six. Last time out, they edged Mansfield 1-0 at Sixfields.
