Dramatic win was ‘small step’ forward, says boss

12 March 2023

Lee Bell says Crewe Alexandra must use Friday’s victory as a springboard to more success – starting at Stevenage.

The Manager was delighted with the 4-3 success, which came courtesy of Dan Agyei (2), Joel Tabiner, and Connor O’Riordan.

Now he has urged his players to take the momentum from the adrenaline-packed triumph, to Stevenage on Tuesday (7.45pm).

Bell said: “I’m just really pleased for the players, staff and supporters.

“There could have been more goals in the game, but we asked the players to be brave and I thought they were really excellent. I can’t praise them enough.

“It was a really good game of football played between two good teams, and it was really pleasing that we could see what we have been working on.

“I said we’d meet teams head-on, and we were never going to sit back tonight. I want the players and fans to enjoy it, because they deserve it.

“We’ve been so close to winning games, and now I want to push the group forward. This is a small step, a good result against a good team, but now we have business to deal with on Tuesday.”

Crewe will head into the midweek fixture on a seven-game unbeaten run, while Stevenage recorded a victory over Walsall on Saturday.
