A number of Crewe Alexandra players will have to be assessed before a decision can be made on their potential involvement at Doncaster Rovers on Saturday (3pm).
That’s according to Manager Lee Bell, who says Connor O’Riordan, Tariq Uwakwe, Rod McDonald, and Christopher Long, are not certain to be passed fit.
O’Riordan picked up a hamstring niggle while on international duty, while Uwakwe and McDonald missed the last game at Gillingham through knocks.
Long, who has been sidelined all season, played 45 minutes for the Under-21s on Monday but club medics are now keeping an eye on how he has responded.
Bell said: “We are assessing a few players and we will have to make decisions on them tomorrow.
“Ryan Finnigan will be out for another couple of weeks, while Zac Williams is still further away."
He added: “It would be excellent to have Longy back; it’d give everyone a boost because he is a good player with quality.
“He’s been a big miss, but he has worked hard to get to where he is at now. We have to assess how he has reacted before we make a decision.
“Having him back strengthens the squad and enables us to think in different ways. He will be eager to get going and score some goals, and I’m sure the fans want to see him play.”
