Alex Morris is to leave Crewe Alexandra after almost three decades of loyal and distinguished service.
The 40-year-old, who joined at 12, has accepted the offer of a prominent role at a Championship club.
As a player, Alex progressed through the academy ranks and spent several years as part of the first-team squad, before being forced to retire due to injury.
By then, he had already begun to forge a new career which has led to him becoming one of the most respected coaches in the country.
Alex progressed from teaching youngsters in the academy to leading the Under-18s and U21s. In recent years, he has served as Assistant Manager and Manager.
Though it is naturally disappointing to lose a coach and person of Alex’s calibre, we are proud of all he has achieved.
And Alex’s journey once again reflects the success of our unique pathway for players and coaches to progress.
Everybody at Crewe Alexandra would like to wish Alex and his family all the very best for the future.
