Boss reports clean bill of health after Whitchurch win

12 July 2023

Lee Bell reported a clean bill of health after Tuesday’s 5-0 friendly win at Whitchurch Alport – allaying fears that Courtney Baker-Richardson picked up a knock.

The big striker signalled to the bench to be subbed just after the half-hour mark at Yockings Park, and applied ice to his leg on the sidelines.

But Manager Bell indicated it was just a precaution, and says all his players came through unscathed.

“It was pleasing that we have got no injuries,” he said.

“That’s the main thing in these fixtures, and I could also see some of the things we have been working on.

“The workrate is something I’ve been onto the players about and I saw that, and we need to spread goals around, and we got that too.

“But there is still lots and lots of hard work to do, we are nowhere near where I feel we need to be. There is plenty of time to get there, though.”

Elliott Nevitt was one of the Alex’s scorers, along with Christopher Long, Max Woodcock, Owen Lunt, and Regan Griffiths.

Bell added: “This season is a fresh start for Elliott and he needs to get as fit as possible. I’m delighted he scored a goal, it was a lovely finish, and hopefully that can kickstart him.
