  • Crewe hit five past Mossley on their return
  • Heath and Parker make their debuts
  • Top scorer Garner adds to her tally

Crewe returned from the winter break with Laura Garner, Cerys Griffin and new signings Megan Parker and Emma Heath in the matchday squad.

Unsurprisingly, it didn't take top goalscorer Garner long to get back into the swing of things as she nestled in the opener thanks to a lovely pull back from Griffin.

On her return to the Alex in the winter transfer window, Parker was instantly involved with the second. Her slide through ball to Emilia Edwards who crossed the ball across the box for Amanda Fallon to slot home.

Edwards' determination and hard work allowed her to get on the scoresheet herself after capitalising on a goalkeeping mistake.

But it was Griffin who took the limelight late on with a quick fire double to extend Crewe's lead to five.

Opportunities fell to Megan Beech and others, but the score remained the same and the Reds came out worthy winners.

Head Coach, Matt Fisher said: "We weren't happy with how slow we moved the ball in the first half and the areas of the pitch we were finding space in.

"We decided to make a few changes at the break to get different players on the ball more and drive at our opponents rather than looking for space in behind them. I think we play our best football when doing this.

"I'm really pleased to see Emma Heath and Meg Parker make their debuts, the three points and a clean sheet to make it a pleasing afternoon."

Next up for Crewe is a trip to Blackburn Community Sports Club Sunday January 15.
