Bell delighted with capture of striker Nevitt

12 January 2023

Manager Lee Bell says he is delighted to have secured the signature of striker Elliott Nevitt for Crewe Alexandra.

The 26-year-old forward has penned an 18-month deal at Mornflake Stadium after agreeing a switch from Tranmere Rovers for an undisclosed fee.

Nevitt is a natural goalscorer, who scooped several end-of-season awards at Prenton Park last term.

Bell said: “I’m really pleased to have got this one over the line, Elliott is a player we have watched for some time and I’m very confident he will bring many of the qualities we have been looking for.

“He’s a goal scorer, a willing runner, he’s strong and he’s hungry to do well. All the reports on him have been been very positive, and that’s why we were more than happy to offer him a permanent contract with us.

“I’m delighted for all the staff who have been working so hard on recruitment, and we’re optimistic about adding another couple of players in the not-too-distant future.

“Elliott joined the squad for training today (Thursday) and will be in contention to feature against Mansfield on Saturday.”

Nevitt, who scored 14 goals in 53 starts for Rovers, was Rovers' Player of the Year and Supporters’ Player of the Year last season and scooped the Goal of the Season award too.

The hitman has enjoyed a meteoric rise from non-league football in recent times. Having played for the likes of Burscough, AFC Liverpool, and Bootle, he blasted a hat-trick at Wembley to help Warrington Rylands win the FA Vase in 2021.

That earned him a 12-month professional deal at Tranmere, which was extended until summer 2023.
