Sean Robertson says he couldn’t get to Crewe Alexandra fast enough once he’d learned of the club’s interest on Deadline Day.
The 21-year-old Forest Green Rovers man agreed a loan at Mornflake Stadium until the end of the season on Tuesday, just before the transfer window cut-off point.
Now the full-back, who can play in a variety of positions, is raring to go as Lee Bell prepares his team for the visit of Grimsby Town on Saturday (3pm).
Robertson said: “I’m delighted to be here, it’s a great club to be at, and I’m ready to get going.
“When I was younger, I saw that a lot of Crewe boys would come through, and heard that they like to promote youth. So, when I heard about Crewe's interest in me, I was excited and just wanted to get here straight away.
“I’m direct, I like to run with the ball and get crosses in the box. I’m versatile and can play in a few different positions.”
Robertson came through the ranks at Crystal Palace, and joined Forest Green on a free transfer last summer.
He has made 10 appearances for the League One club this season.
He added: “I’ve learned a lot at Forest Green and I’m keen to carry that on. But this is 100% the right time for me – I wasn’t getting enough game-time unfortunately, so coming here is a great opportunity.
“I’m impressed with the facilities here, and that will enable me to get my head down and work hard.”
