Morris: ‘We will be on front foot against Rochdale’

24 February 2023

Alex Morris says Crewe Alexandra will aim to live up to expectations when they face Rochdale at Mornflake Stadium tomorrow (Saturday, 3pm).

The Assistant Manager knows The Railwaymen will be expected to take all three points from the rock-bottom visitors, who haven’t won in eight.

But he is aware that players, staff and supporters may have to be patient against a side fighting for their EFL lives.

Morris said: “We’ve done brilliantly against the teams that are below us in the league so far this season, I don’t think we’ve lost any of the nine fixtures we’ve had, so we go into the game with confidence.

“They are always difficult games to go into because the expectation is firmly on us, but we will be on the front foot and proactive.

“We don’t have any lack of respect for what Rochdale are going to bring. They have been ‘in’ lots of games; Jim Bentley is a good manager and has lots of experience, and his assistant Nick Chadwick knows the game tactically.

“We might have to be patient because Rochdale are a team that sit deep in their shape, so we will need everybody to stay patient with us.

“As long as our supporters can see what we are trying to do they will remain patient with us. Hopefully we can find that cutting edge when we get around the final third.
