Ryan Finnigan is ‘loving’ his time at Crewe Alexandra and firmly focused on helping the team get results between now and the end of the season.
The 18-year-old, on loan from Southampton, was outstanding in his second career start in the 2-2 draw at Crawley on Saturday.
Now the midfielder is hoping for more chances to make an impact, starting with tomorrow’s visit of Hartlepool United (Tuesday, 7.45pm).
Finnigan said: “I love it here, the lads and the gaffer and everyone have been really good to me.
“When I first came here, I was slightly worried because it is men’s football and different to anything I’ve ever known, but I’m loving it.
“Minutes will come, because that’s something I’ve not had, and I want to build on it and keep helping the team.”
Finnigan, who joined in January, says Crewe have to quickly bounce back from the disappointment of Crawley’s last-gasp leveller.
He added: “The first half wasn’t great, but we changed our style and it worked in the second half, and we scored two good goals.
“Conceding in the last minute was a blow but that’s football and we go again. The gaffer has put a lot of emphasis on the next few matches against teams in and around us, and we have to pick up points.”
