Injury Update | White, Williams, Long, Tabiner, Finney & Nevitt

7 December 2023

Joe White has a 50-50 chance of lining up for Crewe Alexandra at Grimsby Town on Saturday.

That’s according to Manager Lee Bell, who says the on-loan midfielder has been nursing an ankle injury since the 1-1 draw at Sutton over a week ago.

Meanwhile, Charlie Finney is set to undergo surgery on a calf problem.

Elliott Nevitt, though, is fit for selection while Zac Williams, Christopher Long and Joel Tabiner are making good progress.

Bell said: “Joe twisted his ankle and is touch and go for the game; he won’t kick a ball between now and Saturday.

“Zac has been out running which is a real positive, he looks good and we’ll hopefully get him some minutes in the Bristol Rovers game next week.

“Chris Long is running which is good too but the (Grimsby) game will come too soon for him. Joel Tabiner has made good progress – we are hoping he could be on a similar timescale as Longy.

"Elliott Nevitt is fine. He had some swelling in his calf from a kick but he is fit for selection.”

He added: “Charlie Finney is booked in for an operation. He can continue to train and play minutes for now but he will be missing for three or four months after he’s had the operation.

“He’s done everything he can to ease what’s going on in his calves but the time has come for him to go under the knife.”
