Matchday Guide | Swindon Town (H)

29 April 2023

Crewe Alexandra entertain Swindon Town at Mornflake Stadium on Saturday in our last home weekend fixture of the season (3pm).

Lee Bell’s side will aim to get back to winning ways after two consecutive 2-0 defeats away to Leyton Orient and Grimsby Town.

The Opposition

Swindon sit 10th in League Two on 58 points, four off ninth-placed Barrow, with three games to play. Form has been inconsistent of late for the Wiltshire side, winning only two of their last 12 fixtures backdating to the end of February.

The Gaffer

Jody Morris took over as Swindon manager in January 2023 and has won four of his first 17 matches of the Robins.

Morris has an impressive CV, playing for Chelsea and Leeds United and going onto coach at Derby County and the Stamford Bridge club.

Fighting Talk

Lee Bell: “They have a really good squad, and they like to attack and score goals, and we have to combat that both defending and attacking.”

Jody Morris: “It’s a game I’m looking forward to. It’s going to be a tough test and a different type of challenge from Stevenage.”

Team News

Crewe Alexandra will assess the fitness of Charlie Finney, Rio Adebisi and Ryan Finnigan. Swindon remain without Ellis Iandolo for the trip to South Cheshire on Saturday afternoon.

Head-to-Head

Swindon have the upper hand in head-to-head meetings between both clubs, winning 21 out of 44 past matches compared to the Alex’s 17 victories. Earlier on this season, it was The Railwaymen who were victorious, winning 1-0 from a cool Daniel Agyei penalty.

Officials

Ruebyn Ricardo will take charge of his first ever Crewe Alexandra match. He will be assisted by Paul Stonier and Jake Topp, with Robert Lewis appointed as fourth official.
