Lunt: ‘Sights remain set on collecting points’

24 April 2023

Kenny Lunt says Crewe Alexandra are gunning for 12 points between now and the end of the season – starting at Grimsby Town (Tuesday, 7.45pm).

The club’s Player Development Manager, a key part of the first-team backroom staff, says the aim remains to take maximum points in each of the last four fixtures.

And while he expects to see a degree of experimentation, The Railwaymen want to put the record straight after defeats to the Mariners in League Two and Carabao Cup already this term.

Lunt said: “We want to finish as high as possible and win every single game, nothing has changed in that respect.

“There are four games left and we want to take all 12 points. It won't be easy; there are some tough tests.

“We've been at Grimsby already this season and we know they are a good team; well-organised and really dangerous from set-pieces, so we will have to be aware of that.

“But the important thing is that we play our own game and make the opposition worry about us.”

He added: “We will see a few changes in some of the games, so we can have a look and see who is ready for next year.

“We see the young lads in training every day, and they are good players who are coming along nicely.

“But they develop at different times, and we need to see some of them on the pitch as we go into the last four games.”
