Charlie Finney says his full debut for Crewe Alexandra has whetted his appetite for more first-team action.

The homegrown left-back was recalled from his loan spell at Chorley and handed his first League Two start when Walsall visited, and he took the opportunity with a strong display in a 2-0 success.

Now Finney, 19, is hoping for more minutes between now and the end of the season.

He said: “The lads really wanted to put a performance on and it could have been more than 2-0 with the chances we had.

“I feel good, going to Chorley helped me a lot because it gave me a lot of experience, especially defensively. I just want to play as many games as I can now, and hopefully get a goal!  

“That’s three home wins in a row with clean sheets, so we want to build on that and take it into next season.

“There were 11-12 people from my family watching, some of my family from Australia are here, so it was perfect timing to get my full debut!”
