Boss: 'Opponents Stevenage have built a winning mentality'

2 September 2022

Alex Morris is preparing his side for a tough test when Stevenage visit Mornflake Stadium on Saturday (3pm).

The manager says Steve Evans’s high-flying side will pose a strong physical threat and have plenty of firepower.

And that’s evidenced by the start Boro have made, taking 13 points from the first 18 on offer which has left them fifth in League Two.

Morris said: “They’ve only lost one game in six in the league, and had good results in the cups, so they’ve built a winning mentality early on in the season – that's something you’d expect from a Steve Evans team, they are always competitive.

“He’s a winner, he gets his teams organised, he gets lots of players who are used to succeeding, so we are expecting a very tough encounter.

“We feel it will be similar to the test we faced against Sutton, but with the greatest of respect to Sutton, Stevenage have better quality in attacking areas.

“It’ll be a really tough game but it’s one we are looking to win.”
